Training Program

Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Track

 

Only students enrolled in the UTSA Clinical Mental Health Counseling program are able to apply for the PITCH program. Students who are selected to participate will complete 12 hours of specialized training in IBH. These courses focus on prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies within the IBH setting. 

 

Recruitment

 

Students wishing to participate must:

  1. Be enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program

  2. Complete the competitive application process

  3. Commit to two consecutive semesters of Internship I & II

  4. Have daytime availability.

 

Students who are selected will have the opportunity to receive monetary internship support. Please contact Dr. Heather Trepal for more information on PITCH recruitment.

 

Training

 

This training will prepare students to work at PITCH field placement sites. Students will work in a variety of settings that serve medically underserved communities.  These sites include the UT Health Family Medicine Residency, UT Health Primary Care Center (Medical Drive), UT Health OBGYN/Women’s Health, and the Wesley Health Center managed by the Methodist Health Ministries of South Texas, Inc., among others.
